Dragons

flying dragonFighting the dragon symbolizes often overcoming our own problems and fear. Making a colourful display can be challenging (see: barriers to creative thinking) but this display shows you that it can be done without much difficulties. So get started and  fight your dragon.

What you need:

  • material from a previous display if you have
  • book and internet images
  • coloured paper
  • green and red fabric or paper
  • blu-tack/stapler/tape/guillotine/scissors/ruler
  • you could even create some huge flames from yellow and red paper to to give the fire-spitting dragon a 3D effect (see: display tips)

What to do:

Get some books or internet images (be careful; copyright may apply) about dragons. In our library we have some fantastic books about dragons and one of them devoted each chapter to a different type of dragon. dragon-up-closeChinese dragons – water dragons – flying dragons – fire spitting dragons – ancient dragons etc. It is remarkable how many types of dragons there are!

I used a green fabric with a red border for the middle panel and used images from a previous display and cut them in shape. I also used new pictures from dragon books (often enlarged) and stapled them to the board.

dragon-up-closeI covered the left and right panel in red with a green border. The colours associated with dragons.
