Bike Wise Week

What an email to colleagues can do! An spare tire, helmet, gloves, pump and saddle were delivered on demand. An old bike attached to the frame illustrated that you had to get your gear right first. The posters of fancy bikers in lycra made the students dream of the Tour de France or long trips around Timaru.
Sports gear from the college on dolls and a beautiful framed suit were the finishing touch.
The bike immediately attracted the attention of (mostly) the boys. Trying to remove the gear was tempting so I made sure it was very well attached to the display frame.
What you need:
- images from internet or from cycling books
- coloured paper
- bike (I used an old one but a fancy new one would be even better)
- bike gear
- College gear (optional)
- Bike Wise Week promotional material
- blu-tack/stapler/extra strong tape/wire/nylon cord/guillotine/scissors/ruler
What to do:
The information provided by the organisation was printed in small print and the logo didn’t stand out that well. I enlarged the orange logo and pasted it on blue carton (the college colours), while I highlighted the most important information to make it stand out more. Little orange streamers on the bike connected the bike with the orange on the display.

By attaching objects on the top and next to the display the usual square three panel board looked suddenly quite different.
The College provided the beautiful framed black suit and blue cycling gear. A relative provided the dolls.
